For allegedly stealing eggs valued at over N8 million from a poultry, two brothers, Julius Abu and Matthew Abu, have appeared before a Grade 1 Upper Area Court, sitting at Karshi, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The accused are standing trial on a two-count charge of joint act and theft by servant, said to be contrary to sections 79 and 289 of the Penal Code.
According to the prosecutor, Glory Iheanacho, the accused were employees in the poultry farm belonging to Victor Okechukwu of Karu Abuja, who reported the case at Jikwoyi Police Station on July 2. Iheanacho also told the court that the accused confessed to have stolen 77 creates of eggs during police investigation.
The police allegedly swung into action leading to the arrest of receivers of the stolen eggs. She added that following the confession of the accused, Ilube John, Bisi Adegoke and Ibrahim Yakubu, alleged to have received the stolen eggs, were arrested.
