In this interview, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spokesman for Osun, Mr Diran Odeyemi, tells DGossip247 that the administration of Gov Rauf Aregbesola is wicked for owing workers salaries.
A serving judge demanded the resignation of Gov Rauf Aregbesola. Do you subscribe to this?
Absolutely and definitely yes! He even said it himself that he does not understand what is happening in Osun State. Imagine a governor saying that. He has lost control totally and the workers should have mercy on him. I give kudos to the judge for her honesty and boldness. We have some cowards who are sycophants, who cannot say the truth.
When situations come to this level; when people are dying; when hunger has taken over our lives. When poverty is now the order of the day; and we have a sitting governor, what is the relevance of being the Chief Executive? Aregbesola should resign. Never in the history of governance in this state have we experienced this aberration. It has never been this bad.
I hope by now, he should be ready to hearken to the call of the judge. He is no longer in charge. The recklessness of APC is being exposed. We know why there is no money in Osun. Inflated contracts, nepotism, corruption and so on are our problems and the governor is watching. Too bad.
But as a civil servant, does the judge have the right to be so blunt? Should she not be afraid of being shown the way out of service or victimised?
If the judge is sacked, on what grounds would they say they sack her? On what moral or professional premise will they sack her? Did she speak the truth or not? You see, the situation in Osun State is such a pathetic one that even if it was to be in saner climes, nobody would have called for such a governor’s resignation before he would have done that.
Imagine civil servants not paid for eight months and we have the governor’s son building mansions all over the state and our former commissioners are putting up sprawling mansions. They show no act of public sentivity at all. The judge has spoken and posterity will judge her well.
Osun State workers have been in the news of recent for the non-payment of their salaries and allowances. What do you have to say to this?
I have always thought the APC is a party of angels who know everything. When Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola was sacked by the judiciary, did we as a party owe any worker? You see, the people have tasted two husbands and they can now see which one is better. How can people work for eight months and are not paid? Where are they living? How many landlords can tolerate this? How are these civil servants feeding? What is the situation of their children’s education? Do they perform their roles in the church and mosque again? Quite sad.
But, the government just announced the payment of December, out of eight months salaries it is owing workers, Does that not call for patience from workers?
Announcing the payment of December salary in July? Don’t you know that his administration is wicked, inhuman, callous, greedy and self-centered? Despite the suffering of civil servants in the state, the salaries of Aregbesola, his deputy, his wife and that of his SSG and Chief of staff are not affected and they are complaining that there is no money.
Are they not the ones that strangulated, crippled, battered and shattered the economy of the state through their mismanagement, frivolity and reckless spending, self-aggridizement and sighoning of the state purse? They are pen robbers in political attires.
They are rogues and political lepers that should be far away from real politicians who understand the rules, principles, doctrines and democratic precepts of political game. With utmost disappointment and embarrassment, we received the news of one month payment of workers salary in Osun. It is, indeed, a shock for Osun workers to receive payment alert of their December salary in July, leaving an outstanding seven months unpaid with no fixed date for the payment.
