Schalke 04 sacks Sidney Sam, Boateng
German Bundesliga side, Schalke 04, has sacked Sidney Sam and Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Schalke’s Sporting Director, Horst Heldt, said the decision was taken after the team 0-2 defeat to FC Cologne at the RheinEnergie Stadion.
Sam was not listed for the game, while Boateng was replaced by Jefferson Farfan in the 59th minute of the encounter, Goal reports.
“Schalke Sporting Director Horst Heldt announced there would be consequences after Sunday’s defeat away to FC Köln and the first action has been taken – Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam have been released with immediate effect. Marco Höger is suspended from training and first-team action up to and including Saturday, May 16,” Goal quoted the German club as saying on its website.
Sam, who joined the Veltins-Arena giants in January 2014 on a four-year deal, has made 11 appearances for the Royal Blues that also parade another Nigerian, Chinedu Obasi.
