Police arrest photographer’s killers, suspected robbers in Gombe

Gombe State Police Command on Friday paraded nine suspected murderers, armed robbers and burglars.

Speaking at the parade, the state Commissioner of Police, Kudu Nma, said the suspects were arrested within Gombe metropolis for murder, house breaking and causing mayhem among others.

Nma said among the suspects was one Adamu Abubakar, who spearheaded the armed robbery and murder operations that led to the death of many.

“Adamu Abubakar, alias ‘Baban Tudu’, has been on our wanted list for some time now. I even placed a price tag on him to facilitate his arrest. He however ran out of luck recently and our men arrested him. I don’t know how I will further express my delight at the arrest of the deadly killer,” Nma said.

He added that six others, arrested earlier for culpable homicide, were charged to court and were now serving various jail terms in the Gombe Prisons.

The Police Commissioner, while urging parents to keep a close watch on their children to avoid being influenced by bad eggs, said the Police would keep working hard to maintain law and order across the state.

“Before and after the general elections, some miscreants popularly known as ‘Kalare’, have been disturbing the peace we are enjoying in Gombe. Since we know their evil intentions, we will not relent in our effort to crush them. We will give them sleepless nights. There will be no chance for them to operate in Gombe,” the Police Commissioner said.

He also disclosed that four of the suspects paraded were among the killers of a photographer, Mohammed Banu, who was murdered last Saturday.

He warned criminals to stay clear of the state, saying they were being trailed and the law would surely catch up with them.
