With the Eindhoven side looking to secure the league title against Heerenveen, some supporters have tried to convince the visitors to concede the points with 20 crates of beer
PSV fans are willing to go to every extreme to try to ensure their team beats Heerenveen and secure the Eredivisie title – even bribing the opposition with crates of beer.
A win on Saturday will see Phillip Cocu’s men, who sit 10 points ahead of second-placed Ajax, win their first league crown in seven years.
Heerenveen midfielder Joey van den Berg had joked earlier in the week that he would be willing to concede the points for 10 of crates of beer and the PSV supporters duly delivered.
In a bid to convince Dwight Lodeweges’ team to give them the win, a group of fans drove north to Heerenveen and dropped 20 crates – with 12 bottles in each – off at the stadium.
Van den Berg, though, did not immediately accept the offer as he wants to hear what Ajax are willing to offer to persuade them to beat PSV and keep the title race alive for another week.
“Actually, I am still waiting for a bid from Ajax, but that is not yet in,” he joked to Heerenveen TV.
