International Table Tennis Federation Star Player of the Year 2014, Quadri Aruna, will on Tuesday begin his campaign in the main draws of the Men’s Singles against India’s Soumyajit Ghosh.
Quadri was given a bye into the main draw as a result of his being seeded in the competition along with Egypt’s Omar Assar and El Sayed Lashin.
Meanwhile, two other Nigerians, who saw action on Monday in the preliminary rounds, will also be in action on Tuesday.
Funke Oshonaike will meet world number one China’s Ning Ding in the main draw of the Women’s Single while Segun Toriola will play against Chinese Taipei’s Sheng-Sheng Huang in another of the main draws of the Men’s Singles.
Oshonaike made it to the main draw after she defeated players from Costa Rica, Mexico and Tunisia. Toriola defeated Switzerland’s Weber Lionel 4-3 on Monday to book his place in the main draw after he had also won his two previous group matches against players from Algeria and Qatar.
