How is your daughter faring now?
She is fine now. It’s a big relief now unlike before the surgery. She is very active. She runs around with her brother and one has to caution her to stop playing rough.
How long has she been to the hospital?
She visits the hospital once every three months for check-up after the surgery.
When is her next appointment?
Her next appointment is April 11.

What’s her state of health now?
She is alright. I monitor her blood pressure regularly and it has been normal.
What about her tummy?
It has been flat since the surgery. I never knew she had such a flat tummy. It’s only the pains she sometimes feel on where the stiches were tied. But the doctor said it is normal and that it will disappear after a while.
What precautionary measures do you take on her health?
There is nothing special. The doctor just warned us against exposing her to urinary tract infections. Therefore, I’ve taught her about toilet habits and how to wipe herself, cleanliness, changing of underwear, etc. I also make sure she uses the toilet before she leaves for school. Also, I’ve told her the implication of everything; that she has one kidney and needs to take care of it very well.
When last did you read the Sunday PUNCH?
I don’t miss the SUNDAY PUNCH. You know the first thing I do? I go to the health section and read everything there before going to other sections. My landlord buys it every Sunday and I buy too. I also keep some cuttings. I took the one about my daughter to the school and after reading it, my colleagues came to me for more stories. And I shared my experience with them.
Though the doctor said there was no special diet, I googled it and now make her to drink plenty of water. When she was to resume schooling after the surgery, I bought her a new and bigger water bottle and make her to drink everything. I give her plenty of fruits and vegetable. I just don’t use any cooking oil or vegetable. I am just trying to be careful.
