How Fashola Administration Stole Money From Lagos State — Group Calls on EFCC

A group, Lagosians for Real Change (LRC), on Wednesday called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take advantage of a recently released video to commence investigation into how the Babatunde Fashola-led administration in the state has been running the state’s bank account. The video, which was released to social media ahead of the governorship election in the state, detailed alleged financial improprieties of the state government under Fashola, according to a Thisday report

In a statement by the group’s secretary, Dr. Adegbola Dominic, called on the authorities to investigate the allegations as revealed in the video.
“We call on all appropriate authorities, especially the EFCC, to take urgent actions about the allegations contained in the video,” the statement said.

Some of the allegations in the video included the financial activities between the state and a tax consulting firm, Alpha Beta.

“On March 25, 2012, the Lagos State government paid ?956,119,071 to Alpha Beta for doing nothing,” according to the narrator of the 21 minutes-long video.
Dominic, therefore, appealed to all securities to ensure that the issues are not swept under the carpet for the betterment of all Lagosians.

The group also urges the residents of the state to be wary of another APC-led administration in the state, adding that only an individual with impeccable character like Jimi Agbaje should be trusted with the management of their commonwealth.
