FUT Minna graduates 3,490

The Federal University of Technology, Minna, would be conferring 3,490 graduands with different classes of degrees and diplomas at its 24th convocation.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musbau Akanji, disclosed this on Tuesday during a news conference heralding the event in Minna.
He said the institution would confer 34 graduands with 1st class degrees, 811 with 2nd class upper, while 1,363 would receive 2nd class lower division degrees.
Akanji said the institution has also been ranked as the 6th in Nigeria and 57th in Africa by the Global University Ranking.
The vice chancellor assured that the university would continue to discourage examination malpractice among students.
“The university will put in place appropriate measures to discourage examination malpractice.
“I don’t subscribe to an outside omnibus to settle this.
“Any student found wanting will be given expulsion and this decision is handed down before the beginning of the next semester,” he said.
Akanji said the institution would place more emphasis towards boosting its ranking, adding that funding will be of immense benefits in these.
On provision of accommodation for students, he said the institution was working with private entrepreneurs.
“A private outfit has completed arrangement for the building of a 5,000 bed space hostel and by the end of the year, students will occupy them,” he said.
