Chelsea star Eden Hazard has named his dream five-aside team consisting of players he’s played alongside, and we have to say there’s more than one surprise included.
As relayed by The Independent the Belgium international was the latest star to offer an insight into the favourites of the many faces he’s kicked a ball with, and, as has been the case so often when the five-aside question is put to top footballers, his choices are somewhat bemusing.
HAZARD’S FIVE-ASIDE TEAM
Opting not to elect a defender, or himself for that matter, Hazard elected for a sturdy choice in goal in the form of Thibaut Courtois. A bit of a harsh selection given that he’s spent just half a season playing at club level with Courtois as opposed to the years he’s spent with Petr Cech? Maybe, but they are international teammates and are of similar age, so we’ll let that one slide.
Moving forward the 24-year-old then chose Gervinho and Juan Mata to provide the creative flair for his side. The inclusion of Gervinho – who so famously flopped at Arsenal – isn’t too eyebrow raising when it’s considered how well the pair connected whilst at Lille, but his decision to choose Mata over current teammate Oscar has been rightly flagged as an oddity.
The Spain international was forced to move to Manchester United when Mourinho froze him out during the first half of his first campaign back in west London, and Oscar might well have reason to grumble at not being given the nod.
