The former chairman of Nigeria's financial crimes commission and PDP governorship candidate for Adamawa state, may have suddenly found himself campaigning alone for the state's seat right now.
Daily Independent says that this is because key players in his party have made last-minute carpet-crosses to the hitherto opposition party, APC.
The chieftains who have decamped are: "former Deputy Senate Majority Leader, Jonathan Zwingina; former Minister of External Affairs, Idi Hong, and two serving Senators, Bello Tukur and Ahmed Barata, as well as Sadiq Haske."
Zwingina, speaking for the defectors, say they will now be supporting Bindow Jibrilla, the AP candidate. He said "we want to be part of the positive of the change going on now in the country; we believe in the candidacy of Bindow."
