Adelabu Deserved Better Recognition From Ibadan People – Ajimobi


Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state Thursday lamented that the late Adegoke Adelabu (Nigeria’s first Minister of Services and Natural Resources‎) had not been given the recognition he deserved by the people he lived and died for.
The governor made the remark during the post humous centenary birthday celebration and foundation launch in honour of the late politician, popularly called ‘Penkelemesi’, where he was described as “the most brilliant man that Ibadan had ever produced”.

At the event, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana, was represented by the Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Kola Daisi, while former president Olusegun Obasanjo was represented by the Commissioner of National Population Commission in Oyo State, Lateef Gbadamosi.

Also at the event were the former governor in the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, top officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, surviving wife of Adelabu and other members of his family, Olorogun Ide of Lagos, Chief Ismaila Folaji, who represented the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, Group Managing Director of First Bank, Bisi Onasanya and other notable guests.
