UCL: Musa, Ambrose in, Fatai, Ajagun out

Two Nigerian internationals, Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow and Efe Ambrose of Celtic are through to the last qualifying phase of the UEFA champion’s League after their teams recorded necessary results midweek.
However, such wasn’t the case for both Abduljaleel Ajagun’s Panathinaikos and Kehinde Fatai’s Sparta Prague as they both crashed out from Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
Musa’s two-goal equaliser together with Alan Dzagoev’s winner ensured that CSKA Moscow of Russia progressed with an aggregate of 5-4 over their Czech Republic opponents, Sparta Prague.
The two teams had last week Tuesday played a 2-2 draw in Moscow with the Czech outfit carrying a-two away goals advantage into the second leg.
Interestingly, the Prague based team raced to a two goal lead courtesy of the same men that scored away from home, Kehinde Fatai and Ladislav Krejci but were brought level by the lively Musa, who ensured that the tie was drawn level before Dzagoev scored the winning goal.
Although Fatai was on the score sheet over the two ties, his goals were not enough to sail the team through, with Musa’s Russian Army proving too strong for the home team.
Ambrose, was an unused substitute for Scottish champions, Celtic, as they defended their one goal first leg advantage when they squeezed to a barren draw away to FK Qarabag, an Azerbaijan based club.
Ajagun’s Pana could not defend their 2-1 lead recorded in Greece a week ago as they succumbed to Club Brugge’s pressure after 45 minutes, losing three nil on the night in Belgium.
