FERMA flags off road rehabilitation in Imo
The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has commenced massive repairs of Trunk ‘A’ roads across Imo State with the assurance that, in no distant time, the roads will be free from potholes and ditches.
The exercise, which was flagged-off on Friday, first started with patching of the Imo state axis of the Owerri-Aba Expressway .
Prior to the flag-off exercise, head of the FERMA management team and Executive Director West Operations, Engr. Peter O. Ibu was said to have inspected all dilapidated federal roads in the state that needed the attention of the Agency.
Our correspondent learnt that Amanze–Mile 7½ – Umuelemai road and Ihiala – Orlu – Umuduru roads in the state among others were some of the roads inspected by the team and expected to get attention from the agency.
It was also gathered that the team inspected some locations of road washout and embankment failures and assured of prompt repairs.
A motorist, Mr. Okechukwu Onukaogu, who spoke to our correspondent, commended the efforts of FERMA saying that the exercise should help reduce the number of road accidents.
Members of the FERMA inspection team included Engr. Rufus Onimisi (Zonal Coordinator South East 1), Engr. Sam Maduekwe (AGM East Operations), Engr. Abiosun Afoyebi (Direct Labour Unit) and Engr. Chukwuemeka Maduagwu (Ag. Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer (FRME) Imo State, among others.
