Help victims of Onitsha tanker fire, ‘Ime Obi Onitsha’ asks corporate bodies, organisations

The attention of the Ime Obi Onitsha (Onitsha Traditional Council) has expressed shock at the recent tanker fire incident that resulted in loss of many lives, injuries and destruction of properties.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Council also sent its profound

condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident, while it prayed for the quick recovery of those that sustained injuries.

According to the Nwolisa Agusiobo, the Palace Secretary who signed the statement, the Council also appealed to corporate bodies, organisations and individuals to contribute towards the humanitarian efforts to relieve the sufferings of those affected in the disaster in which over 80 people lost their lives.

“The Traditional Council further called on the authorities to set up a panel to investigate the incident with a view to ascertaining its immediate and remote causes and to forestall a future re-occurrence,” the release added.
