The early arrival of players to camp for the 2017 Nations Cup qualifier against Chad is a delight to Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi. The coach gave June 3 deadline to the 15 foreign based professionals out of which 13 of them met on Wednesday in Abuja. Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, told our correspondent on Thursday that the Head Coach was excited with the response and has charged the players to be ready for the challenges ahead in the qualifier.
Ibitoye noted that Ahmed Musa and Aaron Samuel were the two players yet to arrive camp and they took permission from Coach Keshi. “Having matches during off season is always a problem but the Head Coach was very happy that the players came in early. Instead of having about three or four training sessions before the match, we are going to have about 10 days of intensive training. “The coach told the players that the early arrival was consistent with his vision for the first match against Chad.”
The foreign based professionals in camp are John Ogu, Kenneth Omeruo, Babatunde Micheal, Troost Ekong, Anderson Esiti, Steven Ukoh, Ogenyi Onazi, Kingsley Madu, Odion Ighalo, Vincent Enyeama, Godfrey Oboabona, Leon Balogun and Rabiu Ibrahim.
On Sunday, the Super Eagles will leave Abuja for Kaduna to continue preparations for the match scheduled to hold on June 13. Ibitoye told New Telegraph that the Eagles would move straight to the Africa Continental Hotel in Kaduna for the final preparation for the qualifier. “The players are eager and raring to go. We expect Samuel and Musa to join us before we travel to Kaduna on Sunday,” the Media Officer added.
