Williams maintains number one in women’s tennis rankings


Serena Williams remains comfortably at the top of the WTA tennis rankings released on Monday.
US star Williams has 9,981 points, with Romania’s Simona Halep second on 7,755 and Russia’s Maria Sharapova on 7,525 in third.
The only change in the top 10 is Germany’s Andrea Petkovic squeezing into the elite group ahead of Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro, who fell to 12th.
