Unfulfilled campaign promise: Buhari, Osinbajo yet to make assets declaration public

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are yet to make the assets public as they had promised during the campaign.
Buhari, had on Saturday night through the Head of his media team, Mallam Garba Shehu announced that he has declared his assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau.
In the statement issued by Shehu on the President assets declaration, he said: “The Code of Conduct Bureau on Friday acknowledged the submission of their assets declaration form submitted seperately on May 28 and signed for by the organisation’s chairman, Sam Saba. President Buhari’s Declarant ID was given as: President 000001/2015″.
But this declaration has raised eyebrows with many Nigerian since this is not keeping with the promise made by Buhari.
Reacting to why the President did not make his declaration of assets public as he had promised, Garba Shehu told New Telegraph that he has no answer to that.
Shehu said: “l am sorry l don’t have that information. I am sorry l don’t have it”.
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed could not be reached on his mobile phone.
However, Mohammed had earlier stated that there is a procedure for assets declaration and that the President was going to follow the procedure to declare his assets.
Buhari, during his campaign, had promised Nigerians that should he win the election he was going to declare his assets publicly before taken the oath office.
Also, he stated that anybody that would serve in his cabinet as a minister would declare his assets publicly.
According to him, he had in the past declared his assets three times.
