POLICE ARREST NOTORIOUS CULTIST IN OGUN
Ogun State Police Command on Saturday arrested three suspected ring leaders of a secret cult group, Aiye (Black Axe), in Ijako, Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The police command said detectives attached to Ota Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Muyideen Adisa, a chief superintendent of police, swooped on the hoodlums in an uncompleted building, where they were allegedly preparing to unleash terror on the residents.
The three suspects arrested are Bamidele Adejare, Sodiq Gbadamosi and Olamilekan Omoola.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said some dangerous weapons, including locally-made guns, cutlasses, charms among others, were recovered from them.
He said, “The suspected cultists have confessed to many crimes, including participating in notable cult clashes that led to the death of many people in the Ota axis.”
Also, he said on Sunday morning, detectives arrested a young man, Taiwo Wasiu, and a lady,Gbemisola Adebiyi, at
Ijoko, Ota.
He said, “On Sunday May 3 at about 4.20am, the detectives, while on normal routine patrol along Alasia Area, Ijoko, Ota, intercepted two men and a lady carrying a bag.
“On sighting the police, the two men fled and the police gave them a hot chase while one Taiwo Wasiu and a lady, Gbemisola Adebiyi, were arrested.
“When the police conducted a search on them, a locally-made double barreled cut-to size gun and some live cartridges were recovered from them, concealed in the bag. They have confessed to many crimes committed in the area and in Ogun State at large.”
Adejobi said the state Commissioner of Police, Val Ntomchukwu. had directed that the two cases be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for proper investigation.
