Association of Resident Doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has asked Governor Abiola Ajimobi to pay their five months salaries without further delay.
The President of the ARD, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Dr. Taiwo Akinbile, said in an interview with out correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday that doctors in the hospital had been subjected to serious hardship due to the salary issue.
Akinbile said despite that they had not been paid for months, the doctors were still discharging their duties diligently.
He said, “We commend Governor Abiola Ajimobi on his style of governance, which has brought about peace and harmony in the state. The governor has also done well to sustain LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
“But we want to appeal to the governor to ensure the payment of our salaries since January 2015.
“I tell you, despite the unpaid salaries, we are not on strike but we want the governor to urgently attend to our issue because our members are suffering seriously.”
The ARD, LAUTECH, Osogbo, Osun State, on Tuesday staged a public protest to press home their demands for payment of their six-month salaries owed them by the Osun State Government.
The protesting doctors went to the Osun State House of Assembly, where they registered their displeasure about the situation with the lawmakers.
The university is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states but the two teaching hospitals are funded separately by the states.
