De Gea limps off as Valdes makes Manchester United debut

The 24-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, suffered a suspected back injury in the 73rd minute of the encounter with the Gunners

David de Gea was forced to limp out of Manchester United's game against Arsenal with a suspected lower back injury.

The goalkeeper, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, was replaced by Victor Valdes in the 73rd minute of United's clash with the Gunners after clutching his back.

De Gea's injuryy did allow Valdes to make his long-awaited debut having signed for Louis van Gaal's side in January, though it did bring a premature end to what could be De Gea's final appearance at Old Trafford for the club.

The Spain international has not yet agreed a contract extension with United as they look to extend his deal past the end of last season, leading to intense speculation Champions League holders Madrid could move for the 24-year-old.
