10 points to greatness

Before we go into today’s point, let’s review briefly the points discussed so far.

1. You are not too small to make an impact.

2. You are not too old to make an impact.

3. The future is now.

4. Stardom does not make stars. Stars make it to stardom.

5. Great things often start small. Now, the sixth point.

6. Your SELF-WORTH is more important than your NETWORTH.

I read that for the first time from Professor Pat Utomi. In discussing this point, I’d like to talk of VALUE and VALUES. They are both components of self-worth.

VALUE

This speaks of what you are bringing to the negotiation table.

Your value in a place per time is proportional to the value you add to that place. This principle of value is the reason some people are relieved of their jobs for redundancy, while others are not.

In other words, each time a person is relieved on ground of redundancy, what his employer is saying is, “You no longer add value to us.”

Friend, if your absence is not felt in a place, your presence was not needed in the first place. I, therefore, challenge you to strive to add value wherever you are.

That way, you will be valued. Friend, stop looking for income. Make impact. IMPACT will bring INCOME. Stop looking for money. Add value. Value addition will increase your financial value.

As a matter of fact, one of the Laws of Money is that money responds to value. I want you to know that life is not about Acquisition, but about contribution. Life is not about collection, but about Distribution. As a former President of America, John F. Kennedy, states it, “Do not seek what your country will do for you, but what you will do for your country.”

Before I move on to the second limb of this point, I give you this challenge: ask yourself, “If I am a product in the market, will I by ME?” If sincerely you know you will not buy YOU, why do you expect someone else to buy you? VALUES This speaks of what you stand for; what you represent.

I ask you today, what do you stand for? Those who stand for NOTHING will fall for Anything. People should be able to identify you for godly and goodly virtues. People should be able to say, “That man will not agree to bribe.” People should be able to say, “That lady will not offer her body in exchange for money.”

It was Uthman Danfodio who said, “The conscience is an open wound. Only truth can heal it.”

Friend, Place virtues (character) above money and material things. Re-examine your values. I believe you will grasp a fresh passion for living if you do so, for as Socrates said, “An unexamined life is not worth living.”

Think about these things. You will succeed. Please follow me on Twitter @ VictorOkwudiri
