INEC May Extend Voting in Borno - Official

INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it may extend voting in the Governorship /House of Assembly polls in Borno till Sunday following late arrival of ballot papers.
Mr Tommy Magbuin, Public Affairs Officer, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Borno, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri on Saturday.

Magbuin said the problem was caused by the hazy weather at the Yola Airport, which hindered the transportation of the ballot papers to the state.

He said that the ballot papers were reprinted in Abuja after it was discovered that the Labour Party logo was missing in the materials earlier brought for the polls.

"We had to reprint the ballot papers in Abuja after we discovered that the logo of the Labour Party was missing.

"The ballot papers were expected to be airlifted through the Yola airport but only few areas had been covered as of now," Magbuin said.

He said only Local Government Areas in Borno South had received the ballot papers.

"We have successfully delivered the ballot papers to all LGAs in Borno South.

"We have also delivered the ballot papers in Maiduguri, Jere, Magumeri and Gubio LGAs in Borno central, where voting had commenced," he said.
