Emulate Myles Monroe, group tells Nigerian leaders

A non-governmental organisation, The Guardians of the Nation International, has urged leaders in Nigeria to emulate the leadership qualities exhibited, written and published by Dr. Myles Monroe.Speaking at a programme organised in honour of the late motivational speaker in Abuja, the Founder, GNI, Linus Okorie, said Munroe’s leadership style and books had impacted many lives across the globe.

Munroe, his wife and several other persons were killed in a plane crash in November last year.

Okorie, who said the late motivational speaker exhibited strong leadership qualities that had shaped the lives of many people positively, described Munroe as his mentor.

He said, “For the past 21 years of my life, I’ve been in the business of developing leadership capital for Nigeria and one of the persons that have influenced my life so greatly is Dr. Myles Monroe. He is my personal mentor and has inspired me to think about adding value to Nigerians in ways that are quite outstanding.

“So, it is in view of this that I thought that we at Guardians of the Nations International should set up a platform where men and women gather to be influenced by Dr. Monroe in ways that are outstanding. We are here in the city of Abuja to honour a man that lived a life so greatly and at the same time influenced us tremendously. Our leaders in Nigeria and Africa should emulate the leadership qualities of this great man.

“We are here to honour his legacies and to say we appreciate his gifts to mankind and we will continue to make sure that those leadership values that he preached are impacted on Nigerians and Africans. Africa needs leaders with outstanding integrity, honour and vision and this is exactly the platform to connect with young people that have been impacted by somebody like Dr. Myles Monroe and are following his footsteps.”

Speaking also on how he was impacted by one of Munroe’s books, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr. Sam Amadi, told our correspondent that the motivational speaker’s expository on character formation was incisive and should be emulated.
