E.L. James' husband to pen 'Fifty Shades' sequel script
Rumors that "Fifty Shades of Grey" author E.L. Jameswould herself be penning the script for the movie sequel were quashed Wednesday when it was revealed her husband Niall Leonard would be taking on the task. Both the director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, and screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, of the first film left the franchise before work could be started on Fifty Shades Darker. Many believed James would take over writing for the second movie despite her lack of experience with the role.
But now sources tell The Hollywood Reporter Leonard, who has written for television, will take on the job.
"Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits, and we are lucky to have him join Team Fifty," producer Michael De Luca said in a statement.
