Buhari's 16 Year Wait Is Over - Becomes Nigeria's President-Elect
Nigeria Election Winner is APC's Muhammadu Buhari!
It was a tight race - one of the most exciting elections Nigerians can remember - but it is finally over: Nigeria has a new president-elect!A few minutes ago, the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega announced the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, and his running mate Professor Yemi Osinbajo as president-elect and vice-president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While this news has been greeted with wary skeptcism, the margin recorded has left many hard-pressed to counter the results. The leading controversy is that the North may have played too much of a part in this election, with some social media spectators attempting to start a quarrel by calling for a census to properly verify the population figures.
APC supporters have taken to streets to celebrate the election of General Buhari who has had a long history of relentlessly contesting for presidency, coming close - but not quite - in 2011.
Official press statements have been published, and we expect to see Nigeria ease into gear in readiness for May 29, puttting all structures in place to see the handover of power segue from incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan to General Muhammadu Buhari.
